I'm sure everyone has their own reasons for wanting to learn dance and whatever it may be, guaranteed you will tap into a side of yourself you never knew existed! What started off as just a hobby turned out to be my soul's expression, my passion, and the realisation of who I am. After 18years of dancing I can honestly say that every time I'm on stage the adrenalin and excitement is more intense than the very first day I stepped in front of an audience. That's the reason I dance! I graduated in the art of Bharata Natyam and it is the most disciplined, beautiful, graceful, and difficult dance form in the world. It has given me a strong foundation in all aspects of dance. Modern/bollywood dancing is something I grew into and started choreographing on my own as I developed my skills and my own style of dance. Since then dancing has captured me and I want to learn everything possible" ... KERUSHA PUCKREE (Teacher, Choreographer, Dancer)
BOLLYWOOD DANCING (modern Indian dance) has become the latest dance craze and has taken the world by storm! The informal name 'Bollywood' was given to the popular hindi based film industry and was originally created as a conflation between BOMBAY and HOLLYWOOD. now it has label on its own and is worn proudly by all! Taking inspirational largely from the older north and south Indian dance styles like Bharata Natyam and Kathak, this dance style allows liquid fluidity and expression of the dancer's rhythm, passion, sensuality and boldness. Dancers are usually adorned with stunning eastern outfits and complimentary jewellery and the choreography is kept fun and free-flowing whilst still conformed. A beautiful array or sequences, spectacular display of colour and culture, and hand-eye co-ordination at its best, this dance craze captures both the audience as well as the performers entirely!
Great all over body workout, Weight loss, Reduces stress, Boosts confidence, Encourages team spirit, Supports and promotes cross-cultural acceptance, Improves posture & muscle tone, Loads of fun!
It counts as a moderate-intensity activity, and dancing regularly can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, type-2 diabetes and, possibly some cancers. The variety of moves, particularly in Bollywood dancing, puts lots of different muscles to work and helps to develop flexibility and balance. One of the biggest fitness benefits is the cardio training. The better you get, the less tired you will be. It's also great in terms of toning up. Bollywood is basically a full-body workout. It tones your calves and thighs and is especially good for your posture. It disciplines your shoulders, your arms and your back.
